Torquay Cafe Culture!

Torquay is lucky to have an excellent selection of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from. They vary from a range of small independent places to the big chains like Pizza Express and Wetherspoons, here are some of our favourites with links to their web-sites so you can take a closer look!

Lobster House Man Fridays A seafood restaurant tucked away by the harbour, with a casual ambience and lovely fresh fish (and meat). The complimentary home-cooked bread, served on arrival, is a welcome start to any meal.

Gemelli Close to the Town Hall, Lorenzo and Ewa have one of the best traditional family run Italian Restaurants that we’ve ever eaten in. An intimate atmosphere and simply fantastic food!

Ephesus This Turkish and Greek restaurant will transport you to the Mediterranean with it’s delicious home-cooked food, friendly waiters and stylish décor. We just love to eat here!

Le Pierre Bistrot  Located a 10 minute stroll from Gainsboro along the seafront is this French restaurant and lively bar. You can enjoy the varied food and drink menus overlooking the bay.

The Offshore In a harbour side position you can enjoy the fresh food
al fresco and watch the world go by, or after dark head inside for the live music, real ales, classic cocktails and warm welcome from Brett and his team.

Hole in the Wall The oldest pub in Torquay with cobbled floors and beamed ceilings offering a traditional atmosphere, quality beers, with food ranging from pub fayre to a full restaurant experience.

Visto Lounge Relax and enjoy brunch, burgers, tapas or just a few drinks cafe style in this laid back lounge. With a fantastic view of the sea and just a 10 minute walk along the seafront from Gainsboro you can’t go wrong!

The Drum Inn Designed in 1936 as the focal point of Cockington village The Drum retains it’s charm with outdoor tables in the Summer and a roaring log fire in the Winter. Good ‘Vintage Inn’ pub food and real ales in a really lovely setting.

The Boathouse  This Beach Bar and Grill, on the seafront  is an ideal half-way place to stop for food and drinks if walking to Paignton.  The food and atmosphere are casual, the staff friendly and the view stunning!

Ocean Drive  At less than a 5 minute walk away this is the closest restaurant to us if you’ve had a long day and are feeling lazy! This American themed restaurant & garden specialises in Steaks, Grills & Carvery.
